The average calories per person every day is increased by approximately 600 calories. This is due to the improvement in food production from 1970 to 2008.
After the increase in food production, the number of fast food restaurants also increased. In fact, it has double since 1970.
In 2008, it was estimated that 49.1 million people have limited availability to food lower than the recommended.
This tells us that even though food production has increased, there are still people who suffer from food scarcity.
Two out of three children are physically inactive every day. Less than 20% of adults do not do enough muscle-strengthening and aerobic exercise to meet the guidelines.
Be it children or adults, people should exercise more, regardless of the guidelines.
Children are now spending around seven hours every day in front of gadgets, videogame, and TV. 35% of high school students tend to play computer or video games for more than 3 hours every day.
This means parents are not spending enough time to monitor their children’s time in front of a screen.
All of these statistics tells us that people should put in more effort into living a healthy lifestyle. If this goes on, life expectancy might drop even though life is getting easier and easier.
